Overview
Develop your Italian language skills while immersing yourself in the rich culture, cuisine and beauty of the two leading cities of Tuscany - Siena and Florence. This tour includes 15 hours of intensive Italian language instruction at the renowned Dante Alighieri School in Siena. You will then get to practice your newfound Italian in a variety of fun and enriching activities –wine and olive oil tastings, a Tuscan cooking class, lunch at private home in Siena to name just a few. Morning: Meet Giovanna Chiti owner of Discover my Italy at Rome, Fiumicno airport. Transfer to Siena. and check-in for six nights in the charming and romantic Palazzo Ravizza. During the welcome lunch, meet our Italian Language Coordinator, Dr. Franca Riccardi, Director of the America –Italy Society of Philadelphia and Ms. Ninfa Spano', a Siena resident and our tour director for the entire week.
Afternoon: Orientation walk with Ninfa.
Evening: Welcome dinner at a local trattoria.

Morning: Walking tour of Siena Center with local guide, Stefania:

• Ospedale di Santa Maria della Scala
• Duomo
Lunch: In a private residence.
Afternoon: Free time to shop or relax.

Day 3 - Siena

Afternoon: Tour of the Dante Alighieri School followed by a walking tour of Siena.
Evening: Dinner on your own.

Day 4 - Siena

9:00 am – 12: 20 pm: 3 hour Italian language class at the Dante Alighieri School.
Afternoon: At leisure.
Early evening: Walking tour of the Contrada della Torre with Professor Luca Bonomi. Special focus on the historic traditions of the Palio, the famous horse race held twice a year in the main square.
Evening: Dinner at the Contrada La Torre.

Day 5 - Siena & the Chianti Region

9:00 am – 12: 20 pm: 3 hour Italian language class at the Dante Alighieri School.
Early afyernoon: Excursion to the Chianti region. Visit one of Chianti’s premier olive growers where a top-quality extra virgin olive oil is produced. See the olive press and learn how careful handling at each step of production is critical to producing the finest quality olive oil. On this tour we will have an opportunity to taste one of Tuscany’s finest olive oils.
Late afternoon: Visit to the hill town of Catellina in Chianti followed by a visit to a local winery, with wine tasting.
Evening: Return to Siena, dinner on your own. |
Day 6 - Siena

9:00 am – 12: 20 pm: 3 hour Italian language class at the Dante Alighieri School.
Afternoon: At leisure in Siena.
Late afternoon: Cooking class based on special seasonal recipes as well as traditional Tuscan cuisine.
Dinner: We will eat what we prepared during our cooking class.

Lunch: Light lunch at the Dante Alighieri School.
Early aftyernoon: Departure for Florence. Check-in for 2 nights at Hotel Liana.
Late afternoon: Orientation walk with Elena, our local licensed guide.
Evening: Dinner on your own.
